PEDRO GARIANI TURNS TO BRAZILIAN FOLKLORE FOR HIS LATEST RELEASE, “SACI”

Pedro Gariani turns to Brazilian folklore for his latest release, “Saci”, out today, September 25, on ¡Queer y Latina!. The new single sees the São Paulo based DJ and producer draw on the story of Saci, a legendary figure deeply embedded in Brazilian popular culture, and reshape its mischievous spirit into a driving club track.

At 128 BPM, “Saci” is firmly built for the dancefloor. Percussion sits at the heart of the production, creating a rolling, energetic foundation while flute, vocals and samples add texture and character around the groove. Rather than simply borrowing from Brazilian sounds, Gariani uses the folklore behind Saci as part of the track’s identity, giving the release a clear connection to the culture that inspired it.

The record arrives during an increasingly international moment for Brazilian electronic music, as producers continue to explore the relationship between local musical traditions and contemporary house music. Gariani’s approach is particularly personal, drawing from stories he grew up with while presenting them through a sound designed for clubs far beyond Brazil.

“I grew up hearing stories about this character and wanted to turn some of that energy into music,” Gariani says. There is a sense of movement throughout the track that reflects that idea, with its persistent percussion and hypnotic repetition keeping the energy locked in.

“Saci” is also an important release for ¡Queer y Latina!, the label and platform founded by Gariani in 2026 to connect queer and Latin American artists through club music. The single follows the label’s debut release and will become part of its first VA compilation, scheduled for later this year.

With recent appearances at HÖR Berlin, Time Warp Brasil, Tomorrowland Brasil, Glitterbox and HE.SHE.THEY, Gariani continues to build a profile that bridges production, DJing and curation. “Saci” adds another chapter to that progression, bringing a distinctly Brazilian story into a contemporary club setting.
