From legendary club residencies to international festival stages, the Spanish duo have built a reputation for authenticity, longevity and an unwavering connection to the dance floor. Through their influential Stereo Productions imprint, they’ve also helped shape the careers of countless artists while continuing to evolve their own sound.
Now, following their Reunion Tour and the release of their latest single, Somos Uno, Chus & Ceballos enter a new chapter that feels both familiar and refreshed. Inspired by the unity they’ve experienced with audiences around the world, the record captures the chemistry that has always defined their partnership while looking firmly toward the future.
We caught up with the duo to discuss reuniting in the studio, the philosophy behind Somos Uno, the enduring legacy of the Iberican Sound, what they look for in new talent, and why, after all these years, they’re still driven by the same passion that first brought them together.
How did the experience of reuniting in the studio shape the sound of Somos Uno? Did anything surprise you once you started creating together again?
We couldn’t wait to get back into the studio together. We started working on several ideas, each with a different direction, but Somos Uno immediately stood out. It was the first track that truly excited both of us. After spending the first half of the year reconnecting with audiences around the world on the Reunion Tour, it felt only natural to release a record that celebrates exactly that—coming back together. Somos Uno perfectly captures the energy and emotion we’ve been experiencing over the past few months.
There’s a remarkable sense of space and patience in Somos Uno. Was that something you consciously wanted to achieve from the very beginning?
Definitely. A lot of today’s music is designed for instant consumption, where everything happens very quickly. We understand why, but that’s never been our creative philosophy. We’ve always believed that tension, dynamics and space are just as important as the drop itself. Giving the track room to breathe allows every element to have its moment and creates a much deeper emotional connection on the dance floor.
Your music has always blended groove with emotion. When you’re writing a record, what usually comes first: the rhythm, the atmosphere or the message?
It always starts with the groove. Rhythm is the foundation of everything we do. Once that feels right, we begin building the atmosphere, the melodies and finally the emotional message. We like to compare it to creating a piece of jewellery—the structure has to be solid before you can add the details that give it personality and beauty.
The Iberican Sound has become part of electronic music’s vocabulary. How do you continue evolving that identity without losing what makes it unmistakably Chus & Ceballos?
It’s never something we consciously calculate—it happens naturally. The Iberican Sound is simply part of who we are. We’ve always embraced new influences and evolved with the times, but we’ve never chased trends at the expense of our identity. In the end, what makes an artist recognisable isn’t a particular sound; it’s a way of making music, performing and connecting with people. After all these years, we’re proud that people can still recognise a Chus & Ceballos record within a few seconds.
After spending so much time on the Reunion Tour, did the energy of the dance floor influence the direction of this new music?
One hundred per cent. Spending months playing marathon sets reminded us exactly why we make music in the first place. Night after night we felt an incredible sense of unity on the dance floor, and that inspired everything about Somos Uno. It’s become one of those records that people already expect to hear during our sets, and seeing that reaction every weekend confirms that we made the right decision.
As producers, do you still enjoy experimenting in the studio, or do you find yourselves trusting instinct more than ever?
Both. Experimentation is essential because that’s how you keep evolving, but experience also teaches you to trust your instincts. Every production begins with an idea, then comes the exploration of different possibilities, and finally the moment where everything clicks. Ultimately, the dance floor is the final judge. That’s where every record either proves itself or doesn’t.
Stereo Productions has always championed artists with distinctive voices. What catches your attention when you hear a demo for the first time?
Originality. That’s always the first thing we listen for. One of the biggest misconceptions is when artists tell us they’ve made a track specifically because they think it sounds like Stereo Productions. That’s actually the opposite of what we’re looking for. We don’t sign music because it fits a formula—we sign it because it has its own identity. Of course, we also have to imagine ourselves playing it in our DJ sets, but individuality will always come first.
As this new chapter unfolds, where do you see the Chus & Ceballos sound heading, and what’s next for you guys?
We don’t like to over-plan creatively. Right now, our biggest goal is simply to enjoy making music together again and to have fun behind the decks. Everything else grows naturally from that. The Reunion Tour reminded us why we started this journey in the first place, and now we’re bringing that same passion back into the studio. We have a lot of new music on the way, and it feels like we’re only at the beginning of this new chapter. We’re back with renewed energy, fresh inspiration, and we’re here to stay.
